2011 Summer of Service BEGINS!!

It's official folks - our 2nd Annual Summer of Service is HERE! Students from across the Dallas area have come together to make a difference at area nonprofits. Leading our youth this summer is an incredible group of Team Leaders.

This week students have served at two nonprofits in Dallas, completing service each morning led by their Team Leaders (TL). When students arrive to the project, they are greeted by their TL's in "First Cicle". This is where they can review the schedule for the day, make sure everyone is ready for a morning of service, and participate in a few fun "energizers" to get things going! Then students serve all morning, each day Monday - Thursday. On Fridays, everyone comes together at the Volunteer Center for a day of REFLECTION, CELEBRATION, and FUN.

Roll Up Your Sleeves...2011 Summer of Service Begins!

The Youth Volunteer Corps of North Texas is very excited to host 2011 Summer of Service. We have finished our first week of powerful service as our youth volunteers served at C.C. Young Retirement Home and the CitySquare thrift store.












Throughout the week, students learned many new things from our agencies including....

Wheelchair safety

and the efficiency of the assembly lines!

We celebrated the volunteer's week of dedication and service and reflected on their week during Flashback Friday! We discussed citizenship and identified attributes of model citizens in each other.
