Global Youth Service Day is the largest service event in the world, and this year it upheld its reputation of being a magnificent day of impact! Worldwide, over 475,700 youth participated in over 4,000 projects in 100 different countries! A huge number of people were served by the amazing youth that participated in this day of service, so thank you to everyone who contributed.
This year GYSD took place over April 15th-17th, and YVC of North Texas held a few different projects throughout the Dallas Fort Worth area. The first project spread over two different days in which Youth Volunteers served at Buckner Children & Family Services, engaging children in a workshop to enhance positive characteristics in themselves. Thursday volunteers did a mentoring type event with the children around topics like self-confidence and achievement. The youth volunteers were joined by speakers who were able to bring insight to the issues by sharing their personal experiences. On Friday, the students put on a talent show displaying their talents with techniques they learned about self-confidence. Below are two picture slideshows of the great experience that was had at Buckner Children & Family Services.
